I’ve written about my father a few times. A lot of my memories with him start with a song or a show. He loved Suzanne Vegas’s “Tom’s Diner”, Smooth Jazz V98.7 station was a mainstay in our car (IYKYK), and “Just Got Paid” by Montell Jordan was how I knew I’d be getting a bigger treat on certain Fridays than normal.
I’m 100% a daddy’s girl. He was my first comedian and confidante, he would hold me when I cried after days at school, laugh with me late at night, he’d eat ice cream and treats with me in the car while I talked his head off about a movie he’d never heard of, we’d argue, and debate and laugh in diners while I gulped down 30 cranberry juices and his coffee turned cold. He’s the man I look up to most in the world and our memories together are some of the ones I cherish the most.
