Whatever, I ran out of movies with the word Friday in it that made sense to me so now I’m just gonna label each week with a movie that I care about.
THIS FUCKING MOVIE MEANS A LOT TO ME!!!!!

If you go through the responses to that tweet you will find a response from my cousin who was one of the first people I tortured with films. I have been making him watch movies that I would obsess over for weeks at a time since I could reach the VCR.
I used to be a babysitter (and then a nanny in my adult life) and there was def a whole moment of babysitting movies that came out in the late 80s early 90s—Adventures in Babysitting, The Babysitters Club, Corrina Corrina—that I would end up discovering and loving but especially Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead.
DTMTBD is a cult classic that is basically about a teen girl who ends up having to take care of her siblings after her mom goes on vacation with her new boyfriend and their babysitter dies. WHAT A PLOT! Then they realize they have zero money to get thru the summer, and instead of, I dunno, calling their mom, she gets a job in the fashion industry by lying on a resume. It has one of the best movie houses (It’s a BIG ASS FARMHOUSE) and these are her friends in some cute as Cali 90’s outfits.
It stars Christina Applegate who played Kelly Bundy in Married With Children, and that character is one of my fashion icons.
I’ve yet to write about that yet but I will. Christina later went on to star in a few other things I’ve loved:
Samantha Who?
The Sweetest Thing
Anchorman
Sweet Charity on Broadway
There is a scene in the movie where she is driving on the freeway on her way to work in this office, and she sees a bunch of teens in a droptop in their 90’s bikinis with their 90’s hair playing their 90’s songs and having a good old 90’s teen time (say that in your best Janis Ian “awesome time” voice). Swell ( or Sue Ellen) looks over and is pressed about it ‘cos now she has to spend her summer being an adult instead of at the beach getting sunburnt and damaging her hair.
It made me wanna be a teen girl who just has that group of friends that you cruise around with and have fun. There would be another infamous freeway scene in Clueless that would leave an impression on me too years later. Eventually, I would get my teen cruising moments, driving with I & B up and down Woodward Ave or 7 Mile, blasting music, and downing slushies, I loved every minute of it. We may not have been driving to the beach in the California sun but who gives a fuck—I can’t swim anyway.
*This weeks entry is also too long for email so it’s going to get cut off :/
What I Watched
The Flight Attendant — binged the entire thing in 2 days and honestly…I am a little over it and really mad at the main character for not listening to her lawyer best friend who is the 2nd best person on the show….will watch season 2 duh
Trixie broke down her song “Hello Hello” on the Fender Artist Check-In. She talks about loving girl bands and mentions The Donnas who I have loved since middle school.
The trailer for ROAR over on AppleTV, it looks sick as fuck, and has Merritt Wever who I loooooovvvvvveeeee (also Jake Johnson is in it and they have a New Girl connection)
Lindsey Lohan’s Looks Breakdown on Vogue in which I learned she had an apartment with Raven-Symone at one point.
Hard Cell - I have loved Catherine Tate forever, shes like the British Amy Sedaris x Molly Shannon. shes got a new show on Netflix and it’s fucking great….but long live Lauren Cooper …alllrrriiitttteee.
What I Re-Watched
The intro to “My Best Friend’s Wedding” which I used to put on repeat and perform with that same cousin that I mentioned above and i can’t wait to put that into a script that I write.
What I Listened To
The trailer for a new episode of “Still Processing” !!!! which I still believe has one of the sickest intros of any podcast!
What I Read
This article about Trixie Mattel in the Metro Weekly which has the greatest cover
This fucking sensational profile on Natasha Lyonne in the New Yorker written by Rachel Syme
I read a piece in an in-flight magazine about The Basquiat Sisters now managing their brother’s estate, and then my girlfriend sent me a really interesting episode of the podcast The Journal that goes into more detail.
I learned that they have a new exhibition in NYC that shows a more personal side of Jean-Michel and also works that have never been seen before, I am very desperate to go. His studio was on Great Jones Street and I always remember getting lost on that street in my earlier NYC years during my very first internship.
Quinta’s profile in Bustle by Leah Faye Cooper in which my favorite part is her referring to Robert Pattinson as “Twilight”
Bitch Magazine is folding…it’s so scary just how much print is becoming more and more of a relic and how it seems like indie sites are right behind them. I’ve written for them a few times and I am quite sad (and scared) to see them go.
What I Ate
Small Cheval
Salads
Water
How I Felt
This week as told through Kimmy Schmidt gifs

Etc.
I do NOT like this nigga and this is not me caping for this man. I’ll probably never meet him so it doesn’t matter…..BUT this is exactly how I feel about his video that folks are mad at.

I think I am being scammed by my nephew…
My girlfriend surprised me in bed on Sunday afternoon with beef patties and it was the sexiest, sweetest, yummiest moment all in one. This tweet fit that feeling perfectly and duh the bar is higher than bringing food in bed but it’s the thoughtfulness, the sincerity, the kindness, the care all the other times and way…its all effortless from them, and, yeah, I deserve.
