Extra Bits Vol. 3
Misogynoir & Hidden Lesbian History
Every piece I write gets edited by me about a million times before my draft, and a few times more by an editor before your eyes get to see it. I have always found it easier to overwrite as opposed to filling in later.
As a writer—and an editor—I think it’s best to remember that editing is a collaborative process and I have been pretty lucky in my career to work with those who feel the same. Yes, I am in the words of one Miss Badu “sensitive about my shit”, but not to the point where I’m upset about things that don’t make it into the final piece.
I like sharing what got cut ‘cos it’s just always fun to get a little peek behind the curtain and I think a lot of folks feel the same…
So, this is what got left on the cutting room floor this time around.
