I mean, the original has Jodie Fuckin’ Foster & a chaotic Barbara Harris, then there is the Lindsay Lohan (whose name we have been pronouncing wrong all these years I guess?) and Jamie Lee Freakin’ Curtis one with a perfect soundtrack and apparently there is a new one but it looks horrid and therefore simply doesn’t count.

It’s lent officially (let’s all re-watch the 2002 comedy “40 days and 40 nights” to kick it off) and I think this year I am celebrating.

I haven’t done Lent in a few years but have instead done Ramadan (nunya). I gave myself until Ash to decide and I am doing it. I’ve done it my way as an adult to the quiet disdain of my parents but I don’t see why I can’t tweak it to fit me after doing it “the right way” for all the years when I was a child.

I became more spiritual as an adult once I learned/realized that It can look how I want and that I wasn’t a religious person but a spiritual one. That may sound hippy dippy to folks and maybe it is, but to me it sounds and feels fitting—which is all that matters. I pray daily to my ancestors, have a relationship with the God I know, pull tarot and oracle cards, practice ancestral magick, make wishes, and sometimes go to the church down the street and I love that about me.

What I Watched

The Righteous Gemstones ended last week but I just recently watched it. He always knows when the right time to end his shows are which I LOVE and wish more writers did, but that means I feel like maybe next season is the last of RG but how dope is it to not be afraid to end your shows cos’ you know you have a shit ton of great ideas for another one.

This piece on love & time travel by Vanessa over at Autostraddle — “How am I supposed to be to you?”
I wanted to read a lot over at fucking The Times this week but like that paywall and that email wall or whatever totally just SUCK so In didn’t because I refuse.
I’ve been trying to keep up with everything happening in Ukraine as best as I can. I was embarrassed because I had to ask my partner to break it down for me in very simple terms because I didn’t understand exactly what was going on but when they did it made it a bit easier to understand articles that followed.
Jezebel and crew are striking and I’m sure this won’t be the last one we see from pubs just like before.
R29 Unbothered has really been putting out some great pieces since Kathleen has joined the crew and this interview with Jodie Turner-Smith is wonderful.

What I Ate

I’ve been really busy so food always goes to the back burner for me which I am aware isn’t great but:

I had Jamaican food for the first time and discovered that I love beef patties and that also my body was not ready for it — I regret nothing and now want a jerk salad.

How I Felt

Started this contracted gig this week and met like a million people in 2 days and said hi a billion times and was lowkey overwhelmed by that but kept it together

Had first day of school style nerves especially with all the content about the gig being thrown at me

But then soon realized that actually so much of it was far simpler than was presented but kept most of that to myself

Friends & family got good news and that always makes me happy when they are happy and some other homies hyped up my good news which made me smile!

8/10 times, Instead of going into meetings and sending emails trying to downplay my ideas and thoughts to make others feel comfortable, I went in knowing that I was correct and that “assistant” wasn’t in front of my title.

I was a teensy bit tired and might could probably use a nap

and I ended one night by watching gilded age in bed while eating tiramisu so all in all a pretty yummy week!

I ordered new rugs but got the wrong size so now my feet are cold.
I’m hella proud of myself because I am Managing Director for the 2022 DocLands Film Festival and it’s pretty cool. This was my first week and it went smooth - 5 more to go!
I really wanna binge Secrets Of Playboy, a lot has been coming out about it since it’s premiere (which I figured would happen) and I hope all these folks get to tell their stories and have some relief in their hearts.
Why wasn’t “Sick Sad World” a real show?
I keep forgetting about that fucking membership.
I added derma-rolling into my skincare routine this week to help out with my hyperpigmentation and acne scars and I swear after just one night i see a difference.
