I miss this space.
This was a place meant just for me to write what I wanted, when, and how. No matter how sporadic, how odd, or grammatically incorrect.
Twitter reached out to me a few months back and asked if I wanted to help test out a new feature for writers on the site. It’s called Notes. It’s pretty cute and about 100 or so other writers are testing it out too.
It’s meant to be the sorta substack of Twitter at the end of the day. VV cool because Twitter is where writers fucking live. If you’re good enough it can help you get your start. I actually wrote about that in my first note for this beta test and still didn’t drop this substack.
I decided I’d create some content just for the space. I always have an abundance of ideas so I started interviewing random followers of mine for “Itty-Bitty Interviews” and I moved the weekly thing I do on this substack over there.
You know, my weekly chats about a movie I love and everything I’ve been consuming.
I did 3 films so far:
Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist
Guess what — it’s not a fit. Not that it’s not doing well (something I write NOT do well? Please) it’s just…EYE don’t wanna do THIS over THERE.
I love writing here because there are no expectations. I don’t have to worry about clicks or retweets, be concerned with quote tweets or comments from people who don’t know me…I can just write.
I’ve always needed a writing outlet outside of the work I do that pays me. It’s what makes me want to keep doing that work and make me happy while doing it. I’ve been putting it over there for the month and since it’s part of a beta I have to do things like worry about what images I choose, tweet, and delete because something on the back end is broken and blah, blah, blah.
It’s been very cool to take part and I love that It’s clear that I’m at a point in my career where folks know my input and work is fantastic — but I need to come back home.
So, I’m bringing that back this way and going to use one of my million other thoughts to create something specifically for that space (I literally already have an idea and I am quite excited for it and think it will do pretty dope in the Twittersphere).
But yes I can’t wait to write here again, and in the meantime LETS ALL TALK ABOUT HOW KINKY (AND TERRIBLE) AMERICAN HORROR STORIES 2 IS GONNA BE.
