I don’t have much to say this week. My brain is kind of tired.
I just really love romantic films. They make me very happy and I just…really love them. I just sat and watched as many as I could this week, cried, laughed, and filled my heart with all kinds of love and all the ways one can get to it.
I talk a bit about When Harry Met Sally which I am going to get deeper into another Friday but I am too busy watching it over and over — I really love it.
<3
As always you can find this info on my Letterboxd buuuuutttt still.
What I Watched
The trailer for IS THAT BLACK ENOUGH FOR YOU?!?! Which I am so excited to watch on Netflix. The Black films of the 70’s are fucking fantastic and the folks featured in this doc are LEGENDS OF FILM.
Finale of House of the Dragon
The School of Good and Evil
When Harry Met Sally — This is my first time watching this and I really loved it. Also, it ends on NYE which is my favorite holiday.
Sally: I’m difficult. :(
Harry: You’re challenging. :)
Also this scene was perfect:
Also this:
Harry: Well, how about this way? I love that you get cold when it’s seventy-one degrees out, I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich, I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts, I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible.
What I Re-Watched
How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days
He’s Just Not That into You
Into The Woods — My 3rd favorite musical followed by “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Sweeney Todd”
“Must it all be either less or more, either plain or grand — is always “or” is it never “and” — oh, if life were made of moments, even now and then a bad one, but if life were only moments — then you’d never know you had one”
What I Listened To
I really love Natasha Leggero and I enjoy her podcast with her husband The Endless Honeymoon Podcast. This episode is cute with Dax Shepard (who is married to Miss Veronica Mars herself, Kristin Shepard). it’s so so funny and like hanging out with another couple & it’s nice to get peeks inside other relationships:
Dax: and thats like my wife, she cares about the whole world and I don’t (laughter), I care about the news, sober, and my immediate family. and it’s okay that we have two people keeping their eyes on different prizes, it’s like why we get together almost!
What I Read
Harry Guillén in a profile for The Advocate, paying homage to the iconic Rolling Stone cover with Miss Spears and talking about his career and staying true to himself in it — I love Guillermo de la Cruz.
This piece by A. Tony Jerome over on Autostraddle about Sissy, A Black queer horror film that’s been sitting on my Letterboxd watchlist for months (slight spoilers)
Belly of the beast by da’shaun harrison
Jeanna Kadlec on journaling — I have been at it again and quite hard on myself for it but in the end — it helps.
What I Ate
Coffee & Water
Some Bolognese I made for my friend while we watched The X-Files and talked
a few slices of Tortirices (sp?) pizza
A scene I can’t stop thinking about
Angela in Waiting to Exhale is a masterclass in acting. I’ve been thinking about her a lot with Wakanda Forever coming out and I really hope she does like a Hot Ones.
Etc.
Those days that turn into nights — where the sun goes down and we’re talking. Holding hands, exchanging glances, taking pauses….and just talking.
