I watched the season finale of The Bear Season 2 sitting on a comfy thrifted chair in my partner’s apartment. Surrounded by immaculate and clear views of the city it’s filmed in, and a bus ride away from where Syd and Carmy’s fictional restaurant is located.
If you haven’t watched season 2 (or season 1) a quick non-spoiler catch-up is that the gang is shutting down the old spot run by Michael, Carmy’s brother, to open up a swanky cloth napkin spot called The Bear. Named after a nickname Carmy earned due to his very Chicago and Italian last name (Berzatto), the season is all hands on deck to make several of the staff’s dreams come true. Syd wants a Michelin star, Cousin wants to find his purpose, Sugar wants true family connection, Lionel wants to expand his pastry—and world—knowledge, Tina wants to level up in her newly found confidence, and Carmy? Carmy wants to win. He wants his break and if he doesn’t get it — he’s done.
